    Denormalization

Denormalization is the process of trying to improve the read performance of a database, at the expense of losing some write performance, by adding redundant copies of data or by grouping data.

This process is crucial for NoSQL databases. You do not expose yourself to JOINS when you read databases. Rather, you create duplicates of your data to reach faster read-operations.
